Testing A New Survey Site

I’m always trying to find ways to make a few extra bucks. The problem I come across is that there are a lot of scammy sites out there which make it difficult to find one that actually pays. I’m experimenting right now with yougov. You sign up, answer some profile questions and get points. After you get so many points you can redeem them for various gift cards. Sounds simple enough. They give you around 2000 point just to sign up, and another 500 points for the second survey which follows your profile survey.

Here’s a screen shot of the types of gift cards you can redeem. I have 2,500 points for signing up and the second survey. I’m being adventurous and trying something new here. Sometimes survey sites will give you fewer surveys based on your profile if you don’t fit their target market. Yougov seems to have good reviews so I’m giving it a try. I think  if you have time to blog, read blogs, or are looking for a way to make a couple of extra dollars, then it’s worth a try. Nothing ventured nothing gained right? As you can see I’ll need around 30,000 points to redeem a gift card, but given I have 2,500 for just starting, it should be easy to reach the goal.

I also do Bing searches everyday. You can earn a $5 Amazon gift card every month by completing all of your daily searches. I feel this way, I get points to read daily news and articles that I would have read for free. Now I earn $5 for it. Granted, it’s not a game changer, but by black Friday, I can use my gift cards to get lower prices on my purchases. Bing has other gift cards and things you can redeem your points with, I just prefer the Amazon gift cards.

What’s your view on surveys? Do you have any recommendations? Feel free to post your thoughts on this. I’d be interested to know if anyone else likes to do things like this. If you want to give it a try here’s the link, yougov.
